Hot Springs Concert Band to go ‘Out West’
After its well-received Memorial Day Concert in Whittington Park, the Hot Springs Concert Band now is turning its attention westward.
"No, the band is not making a trip out West, but it does want to take you out West through its music on Monday, June 12, as we continue into our 48th season and the first concert of the 2023 Summer Concert Series," the band said in a news release.
The Hot Springs Concert Band will present "Out West" at 7 p.m. Monday, June 12, at the Fountain Lake School Auditorium, 4207 Park Ave.
In the first concert of this year's series, Principal Conductor Craig Hamilton's "Out West" theme "will define the great music in store for those who attend this concert."
Concert selections include "Cowboys," "Down In Some Lonesome Valley," "Go West!", "Good Ol' West," "Hoe Down," "Magnificent Seven Southwest Saga," "Texans," "Good," "The Bad And The Ugly," "Scenes From The American West," "The Wild Westerns," "William Tell Overture," "Journey Into Diablo Canyon," "Silverado," "And Platte River Hoedown."
"This music will bring back memories of some of your favorite Western movies or books and perhaps take you back to some of the places you've visited out west. And ... a few songs might even bring back some childhood memories when you rode your real (or imaginary) horse across your own pastures or perhaps in your dreams across the Rocky Mountains, the great Southwest, or in Montana high country," the release said.
"On whatever ride the music takes you, you can be sure it will be a great journey and you will be enjoying it with other friends and neighbors in a comfortable venue with air conditioning and soft seating, regardless of the weather," it said.
There will be no admission charge, but those who wish to donate to the band's operating expenses will have the opportunity to do so, according to the release.
